Default Dakota PSA

So throughout my week of struggling to get the SMEC working right (finally just replaced it, running great), I came across a Dodge tech bulletin, advising mechanics that replacement MAP sensors should be installed upside-down, with the vacuum nipple facing up. This requires a little bending of the bracket but it's not hard to do. The reason for this is that the gel inside the sensor itself will liquefy over time, melting away and the potentiometer inside the sensor will have nothing to respond to. Additionally, the gel will get sucked into the engine, which is never good. Installed upside down, they last a lot longer.

Just FYI

Nice tip. I never heard/thought of that. Next time I'm working on my truck I will try to do that.
