It may be wires or your switch. Start testing the wires out.

I have a similar problem. I changed my block as well, but no dice. I am reading a resistance through the brown, blk/tan, and the motor works when hot wired, but I cannot control it through the stock wires. I assume the control unit is defunct, but will wait on others opinions.

My blower motor quit yesterday - it was fine when I parked the truck, but 5 minutes later there was nothing. I noticed that when switching the fan to any "on" position, that the parking brake warning light comes on. I came home and did some research online; checked all my fuses, replaced the blower resistor, checked all visible wiring for damage/melting but no luck. I have also observed that the parking brake warning light comes on when in reverse and I do not have reverse lights. What in the world am I missing?

Default 90 Dakota with similar issue

I have a 1990 Dakota SE 3.9L v6 that does not blow any air into the cabin at ALL, unless the switch is turned on, and even then it is only coming from the outside as the truck moves. When i stop, the air stops. Fuse is good, and the resistor has been replaced entirely. I am thinking it may be the motor itself. It seemed to have stopped after an accidental arcing of the Time Delay Relay. I still have heat, AC stopped working a long while back.

My block was also rusted and had one wire pull out of the plug when I replaced the resistor, a bit of modifying and it is working again. I plan on putting some type of rubber flap above it that will cover it so no water gets on it again, that and a bit of silicone and it should last another 20 years.
