Will a 93 dakota V8 fit in my 89 dakota to replace a 3.9?

It will fit, yes, but you'll need a new fuel system (tbi is lower pressure than mpi). You'll also need the magnum computer and wiring harness. It will be a lot of work.

Just crossed this bridge and decided the 3.9 was fine in the 89 for wifie and around town. Found a decent 94 with V-8 one owner 118k miles for 1900 bucks. Nope not transplanting keeping both. My question is what about gear ratio V-8 verses 3.9. It seems there is a gearing diff. from observation of tach and sound of engine.
