89 Dak 4x4 Sport dash switches/fog lights
Any one out there have a 89
dak with two factory switches? Ours has one labeled off road, second says fog. Since we bought this one from Henry the backyard Mechanic and he removed fog lights, light bar, I have no idea where the wires are or were for the off road. Ive gotten a pretty orriginal fit with a set of blaizer fog lights and wonder if the second was for the chrome rack that had lights on it when the truck was new. Wifie wants to find an original light bar and restore the truck. While on the subject i gotta tell you all Mr. Henry(back yard specialist)removed the Lund sun visor stuck bolts in the holes and siliconed the heck out of em.
Good luck finding originals. Try www.google.com or www.craigslist.org As for the wires check the FAQ in this section for some older wiring diagrams. Try www.autozone.com as well.
LOL I have the orriginals. Just trying to find out what Off Road was supposed to be. (If you didnt remember this is the truck that when I contacted the regestered owner for a fix on the title he stated it was sold for parts!)
The off road switch on the dash panel is for the 100w lights that was on the original light bar in the bed of the truck. The other that says fog lights is for the factory fog lights on the front of the truck at the bottom corners under the bumper in the plastic valance. I have a 90 that has all the same things. I have the original light bar and the original off road lights with all the wires that I took off my truck a while back. I even have the original covers for the lights that say dakota on them. I just dont have them on my truck.

I thought that might be the deal. The blowups I have for the light bar indicate it mounts on the bed rail area but there are bolt patterns in the rear fender wells, guess there wasmore than one waytoskin the cat
The factory light bar bolts in the bed in the front corners and on the fender wells. They do not bolt on the bed rails. There are 4 bolts in the bottom of the bed on each side and 3 on each fender well. On the driver side where it bolts in the bed there is a round hole bout an inch round where the wires for the lights goes. They run under the truck down the frame then up to the engine compartment by the firewall where they plug in to the part that goes into the cab for the switch. Hope this helps you out on your quest. I can get pictures if you need of what ever you need to see.
