Default Changing timing chain

Hello all,
I am changing out my timing chain in a week or so, its making a lot of noise, and I hate noise. My question is this, will it help the performance at all? Currently she drives like an old lady on a cheese diet. I am guessing the cat might be a little plugged, but hoping the timing chain will make a difference. Also, my gas mileage is crap, 15mpg. might that improve?
thanks

Compared to the way it drives now yes the performance MPG will improve.

just in case: there is a procedure in the FSM to check for chain slack without tearing into the engine.

well we got her done, with no problems. It did seem rather dry inside the housing, but it had been sitting for 3 weeks. She runs better (I think), but now I can hear another rattle, this one I think is coming from my Cat. that is Catalytic converter not the stray cat in my yard. I had everything lined up just the way it says so in the manual, and when I put it back together it went like it should. Here is my question.

Is there anything else I need to do regarding my timing?

As long as you lined the dots up right you should be fine you can double check it if you wish to.
