Thanks man. What's the best way to flush out the heater core? Air or water?

Both. Crank up your air compressor and shoot some air through the heater core, in the opposite direction that it normally flows. Be sure to be ready cause all that gunk will explode out of there. Rinse it out with a hose, then blow it out again. Then microwave a glass of bleach until it is hot, pour it in there and let it fester for a little while. Some guys use oven cleaner, there are also commercially available products. Blow that out. Rinse it out again with water, and blow it out. I did that several times, try to get all the bleach out. Then hook it all up again and you should be good to go, remember that you might have to bleed the bubbles out of your coolant system now.

Update:
I finally got the temp where I want it. Working in the freakin snow! I replaced the water pump, radiator, radiator cap, coolant sensor, heater core and all hoses. With a digital thermometer is stays around 184 degrees. My gauge still reads just above half but that's fine by me. Now the heat will melt the glue on your shoes. Before it would barely keep you from freezing to death on the way to work. Thanks for all the help guys.

I'm running 165 all day, unless I let it idle then it will heat up to 180. I love it.
