Welcome George, nice truck and a heckuva deal too.
Relatively new Dakota owner here as well and I'm starting to see the allure to these trucks. I'm really liking mine. Doesn't have the grunt of your V8, but has plenty for me right now. My paint is crap, but I hope to address that in the spring.

i put a small set on the inside of my bumper valence. and don't worry you will fall in love more as you drive it. i've had myne for 3 months now and with a wife and two kids we have a lwb grand caravan (wich we love as well) but we drive the dakota everywhere. im on my third oil change already we drive it so much. i put a camper on it and that just made even better. only thing i've had to get used to is having the nuts to pull out whenever you want in traffic and know your gonna make it with room to spare :P
Thanks again guys for the positive comments. I really need to paint the trim around the speedo and radio etc, the white is pretty ugly haha. I do have a few ideas for the fog lamps now, just got to find some decent ones.
