Default Hub Lock Indicator Switch, 92 Dak

When I shift into 4WD, the light in the shift console does not light up. I checked the bulb (OK) and then found the trouble-shoot procedure in the 95 manual online. It said to pull the plug on the switch and jumper the two pins to see if the light comes on.

So I did this on the plug at the rear of the transfer case (no result) and on the plug on the passenger side of the front differential: the light came on.

OK, so I need a new switch at the differential, and this is where the fun starts. According to the parts manual the number I need may be 4289880, but I'm not sure.

Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks!
Peter.

It looks like it is. You can cross reference the part at www.autozone.com or www.napaoneline.com

Thanks Crazy4x4RT
I tried the number at both the links you said. The crossover part is listed as not fitting a 92 Dak 4x4. The picture of the part looks exactly right; the little plunger is sticking out about 1/4".

When I use the same sites for "Four Wheel Drive Indicator Lamp Switch" on a 92 Dak 4x4 it shows a part where the plunger is just peeking out of the switch ... not like mine at all.

And it says it's located on the back of the transfer case. When I jumpered that plug I got no light in the cab, but did get a light when I jumpered the one on the front diff.

I'll drop down to the dealer parts dept. tomorrow and see what they say. I have a feeling I'm missing something that's right under my nose!

93-down had CAD Central Axle Disconnect. The front axle has the switch, I believe like the first pic.

94-up didn't have CAD, so their switch is on transfer case like the 2nd pic you posted.

Ya I agree dealer will be best. But since you have the part number take that and don't let them give you the transfer case one.

If you want you can try these OEM sites. Just type in the part number. https://www.dodgeparts.com/oe_parts_...e2cf8fa4e8846c
