1996 V8 Dakota No Radio/No Cigarette Lighter/No Engine Light/No Start
I have a 1996 Dodge Dakota Club Cab with a 5.2L 318 CI V8 engine that is currently not running. All the engine does is just crank over with no firing. Their is also no check engine light, the fuel pump does not turn on, the radio does not work, and the cigarette lighter does not work. I did check behind the tape of the notorious splice, and the wires look clean. I also checked the red wires for power underneath the relay box, and the power is there. I did notice that fuse number F2 ( 5 amp) in the the relay box kept blowing when i moved the key in the start position, and it did not blow when i put a larger fuse in. Fuses look fine in the dash fuse box. Fusible links look ok, but could they be blown, and still look ok? Advise please thanx!
From what I read...
F2 Fuse- interior lamps, power mirrors, clock radio memory,under-hood lamp, time delay relay
Sounds like you have a short somewhere there. Although it does not explain why the pump is not feeding fuel. Will it start if you bypass the wiring from the battery straight to the fuel pump?
Most of what you explained sounded like your accessories but I don't think the pump is on the same line.
Have you added anything that would draw more power/amperage?
There could also be a short in your relay/fuse box.
According to the FAQ section, everything you are having problems with is powered through that relay box. I would check to see if the wiring under the box is damaged and also the connections within the box are not shorted. I have heard of people having wires short directly under that box.

I downloaded the free manual, and i did a few checks. Voltage is present at the cigarette lighter, and the red wire at the radio connector when the key is in the run position. Fuses were fine in the fuse box. Im suspecting a grounding issue.
