Question 1989 Dodge Dakota Speaker Size?

ok, so i just got my 89 dak. today. Id really like to replace the original radio, what size speakers do i need to go all around?

The truck has sat in a barn for 2 years and im getting the needed wiper motor and windsheild soon, but while im at advance, i thought id swing by ghetto-zone and get some speakers, what size do i need? ive looked everywhere and cant find this info.

Little help here!

also, what is the cheapest i should go on a head unit? like i said its all original, and this is my first car so im pretty much clueless... =\

Thanks in advance,

welcome to dodgeforum!

iirc, the back speakers are 5x7 and the fronts are 5-1/2 i would suggest going to walfart for speakers and such. i paid $60 on my deck its my 5th one(3rd aftermarket one) its a pioneer. it all depends though on what you want.

merry christmas!

I would highly recoment Infinity for the highs, Memphis for the tweeters, couple of 12" full size subwoofers, Memphis single channel amp for the lows, Cadience amp for the highs and a good Pioneer Head unit, will give you good sound and a hell of a back massage. LMAO Having issues finding a subwoofer box, congrats I got one for you loaded with subs $200 plus shipping

Anyone ever re-fab/make a center console and mount a sub in it?

Im dieing without suome thump, however i cant sacrifice my back seats none.. just had my third kid last week.. lol

as it is, i was contemplating making a box to slap one or two subs in for the center console.. just gotta figure a way to not totaly loose the storage and tray, they're jsut too handy..

maybe add in a compartment for the ps2 as well while im at it. theres a fair amount of extra space up to the 4x4 shifter etc..

Its totally do-able, just a matter of doin it without it looking like crud!

Also for anyone ever wondering what size speakers they need jus go to infinity's web site and they have a speaker size finder for all vehicles! Very useful, Also subs depends on ur cab reg. or ext. pretty much if a reg cab you only have about 8" max depth and are stuck to about 1 10"??? or 2 8" subs maybe from MTX or JBL with a custom box, sealed of course
