What is it worth?
88 Sport, Orr. Owner. Body good, engine great (3.9 engine no noise oil changed @ 3000 mi).C.V. axils brakes etc less than 20 K. New exhaust, power windows, tires dry rot. Dakota cap in great condition. Tranny shot Guy wants $500.00

For 88 that sounds like a good deal. I would say go to www.kbb.com and see the valve then minus the the transmission job.

The addage I was told growing up was "any truck that runs is worth a thousand dollars". That is to say a truck that ran like it should. $500 is a good deal on a working truck, but as mentioned previously, the transmission is an issue. You could not piece together a dakota for that price, but is it the body style you want, and does it have the options you are looking for?
