Default No reverse 1995 dodge dakota

I was trying to get out of a snow drift by rocking forward and backward. I did get out but I think I broke something. Now it won't go into reverse. Everything else seems to be ok. About a month ago it did have a little problem going into reverse unless I revved up the engine a little. It would go into gear with a clunk. I thought this was a fluid problem so I filled the trans fluid up.

After this problem I can't say that I've had any problems to mention here.

My truck has 177k miles and I haven't serviced it as I should have this last year. I've owned the truck for two years.

It may be the fluid. It may be the bands that need adjusting. Check this post. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...agnostics.html

My wife's car was doing the same thing. Let me ask you this... If your on a hill pointing down, and put it in reverse and hit the gas, does it just roll forward?

I'm willing to bet that the low/reverse band is broken. It does happen on these transmissions. The only way to fix it is the disassemble the transmission, i.e. rebuild.
