I have a nice set of 225 75 15 tires layin around, but is that size too skinny for my 93? Should I stick to puttin 235 75 15s on it?

The 225's will work on the rims, they'll just be about an inch or so shorter than the 235's.

Thanks for the input. No I don't do any 4wheelin, except for when it snows! The 225 75 15s are actually taller than the 235 70 15s that are on there now!! Just not as wide. Thanks again!

That's because the second number in the tire size is the percentage of the width, which is the first number. If you take 70% of 235, you get 164.50. If you takes 75% of 225 you get 168.75, so the 225/75r15 will naturally be taller than the 235/70r15.

I don't remember where I read that but it blew my mind a little at first, then the light came on and it all made sense. In days of old, the first number, actually letter was the height designation and the first number was the width followed by the second number which was the rim size. So an E-78-14 was roughly equivalent to a P195-75R 14.

Just my

Yeah, those "new" tire sizes are crazy! The dealers I've talked to aren't crazy bout all the dif sizes they have to sell now! That's y I was askin if the 235 would be too skinny for a dakota, but I don't think it would be. Thanks for the input yall.

Sorry, I need to preview my posts better!! I MEANT that's y I was wondering if the 225 was too skinny! I think u can put 215, 225, or 235s on dakotas.

I think 215's are put on the 2wd models, as the stock size.

You will be O.K. if you can get them mounted. The scam here is they will not mount anything other than what is on the door. Benefit in snow will be the slight decrease in width will give less resistance.

I went and found some good 235 75 15s to slap on there! 4 for $120. When these wear out, I prolly put the 225s on. Thanks everyone.
