Thanks for the input. No I don't do any 4wheelin, except for when it snows! The 225 75 15s are actually taller than the 235 70 15s that are on there now!! Just not as wide. Thanks again!
That's because the second number in the tire size is the percentage of the width, which is the first number. If you take 70% of 235, you get 164.50. If you takes 75% of 225 you get 168.75, so the 225/75r15 will naturally be taller than the 235/70r15.
I don't remember where I read that but it blew my mind a little at first, then the light came on and it all made sense. In days of old, the first number, actually letter was the height designation and the first number was the width followed by the second number which was the rim size. So an E-78-14 was roughly equivalent to a P195-75R 14.
Yeah, those "new" tire sizes are crazy! The dealers I've talked to aren't crazy bout all the dif sizes they have to sell now! That's y I was askin if the 235 would be too skinny for a dakota, but I don't think it would be. Thanks for the input yall.
You will be O.K. if you can get them mounted. The scam here is they will not mount anything other than what is on the door. Benefit in snow will be the slight decrease in width will give less resistance.
