WTF new code?
So Im having the great " it just dies issue" heres what I have fixed so far
1. pick up coil
2. crank sensor
3. CPU "jegs"
4. fixed the notorious wire splice "under relay box and near the driver firewall"
5. TPS
6. cleaned IAC
7. check all the plugs and wires,
8. replaced Cap and rotor
Now, when it gets warm and you start to drive it shuts down then it acts like theres no CPU connected. after it cools down and I go to turn it on the CPU comes on. only after it shuts down does the CPU not come back on. I had my code reader on it when it happened again and it had a code 45 "transmission cooler senor". I have looked all over this site and cant find what this code is.
My truck
Stock 95 V8 4x4 dakota 5.2
elec. fans. and duel exhaust only.
please help

There are 3 bad splices. I would say start with those. Next find out if the computer has correct power and ground when it doesn't start. Next check the ASD, and Fuel pump relay for correct power.
The Rams had a transmission sensor for the computer, but not Dakota. So you just got an Universal PCM. Just ignore the code it will always be there. I have it too.

I had replaced 1 of the relays just for the fun of it. Still same issue.
How would I go about checking to make sure the CPU has the right power to it?
Im thinking that this is the issue with it. I forgot to mention that when I was working on it, and had the engine on and running, (again it runs fine but when warms up its another thing) my co-helper mechanic accidently hit (soflty) the CPU with a wrench, this caused the engine to start to tumble and run very rough, afterwards it started to shut down, then died. I immediatley turned back on and very softly hit the side of the fender to cause vibrations to the CPU this killed the truck again. I have tried this on several diffrent times and weather wise, leading to the exact same prob. IF you hit the fender it dies if you hit the CPU on the side it dies. I have check the wiring that the CPU is connected on, the wires are all good no bad splices there. Im thinking I got a bad CPU or like you said its not getting the right power or ground, But then how would I check those?

the map sensors can cause this. next time it stalls and won't restart unplug it and see if it fires up. i got the 45 code to btw. it was a sensor threaded into the trans line at the trans. dakotas didn't get it because there wasn't really a worry of over heating a half ton trans in a qaurter ton truck.
