Default Help with this ***.

I know its kinda a foggy picture but can anyone tell if its an 8.25 RA? If so its equip with 3.90 gears. Im thinking about a swap from my 3.55 in my 95 2wd 5.2. Is it worth the hassle? will i see any more pep and will it affect the mpg that much? Any help would be great

Looks like the corporate 8.25 under my dakota. FWIW if I was doing a rear axle swap I would find one from a 97 or newer that has the disc brakes. There's a write up on how to do it.

the only really accurate way to tell would be to get a build sheet from chrysler on the truck or look under the hood on the rad support there will be a sticker that has the gearing on it. or just pop the cover off and look for the stamp

Seriously if both are 8.25 it would be easier to just swap out the ring and pinion. You could do a quick rebuild while in there. The only real benefit would be if you tow allot. The 3.92 will keep you in the power band easier. You will lose some mpg going to the 3.92. All around driving IMO the 3.55 is better.
