93 dodge dakota steerting

Arrow 93 dodge dakota steerting

is there any way to tighten up the steering

i can only speak for 2WD...check you rack&pinion make sure it is secure to the frame, mine came loose and it effected the steering. next there is a adjustment screw on top of the steering box. you loosen the nut and tighten the screw a little at a time then tighten the nut back down.

Most likely it is loose for a reason. Bad ball joints, tie rod ends ect.

i completly redone mine, and the only thing that showed wear on mine was idler arm. youll just have to inspect. but if or after all your joints are good you can adjust gear box like kahakabob said, i think 1/4 of a turn will equal about a inch in stearing wheel.

when I turn the wheel it takes about an inch and a half b4 it starts to turn ither way...Im gonna have to look into this deeper like you guys said...to check the ball joints and stuff do i jack up the truck and try to move the wheels?

jack up enough to get something like a 2x4 or crowbar under the tire. with the end of the 2x4 under the tire put a small block under the 2x4 so you can push down on it and it will apply upward lift on the wheel. check for up&down play. whith the truck on the ground have someone turn the wheel back and forth while you watch the tierod end ball joints to check for play.
