94 3.9 EGR removal
Your understanding of EGR is very flawed. EGR takes exhaust from the exhaust (specifically the Passenger exhaust manifold) it doesn't take it "from the cat" (how are you going to remove it if you don't even know where it is?).
Removing it won't clean up the engine either, all that crap is on the back of the engine and is pretty much unseen.
There's no reason to remove it if it's working properly. The only reason mine is removed is because I installed a non-EGR M1 intake manifold. My truck also uses a standalone computer to run the injectors (with the stock computer it always had a few minor issues after I removed the EGR, including an occasional backfire through the intake). Removing the EGR and running a standalone computer are both illegal, however my emissions are actually slightly lower than stock.

Yeah, well it's throwing a code 32 for the EGR system and i honestly don't want to spend the money on a new one, as i don't care about emissions. It would take me 15 mins to remove and make a delete plate. This is also my first vehicle with an EGR system, so sorry if my understanding is "flawed". Thtat's why i am posting on this forum is to learn stuff i dont know, i dont care about your illegal computers or whatever crap.
lmao..relax dude. Were all here to help you..not attack you. Hahns wasnt calling you out on anything..at least not that I thought. He just stated that your understanding of what the EGR valve is wasnt right. You thought it ran to the cat and since you dont have a cat you thought you didnt need it. Well Im from MI too..I dont have a cat..my truck had the same code..and after two good cleanings of the EGR valve it came back so I spent the money...which isnt that much anyway...and just bought a new one and poof..no code..truck runs good..problem solved. He was just sayin he doesnt have one cause of his intake and computer. Because of that Im assuming he doesnt throw the code. Like Hahns said getting rid of the EGR will just throw the code and of course if its bad then just leaving it...or cleaning it yet its still just bad...itll just keep throwing the code. But other than that..caring about emissions or not Id just clean it and see if that helps and if not then replace it and hopefully your results are like mine.

I am new to this forum and I just want to say hi. I would like to reply to the egr thread and say that I have a 91 dakota with a 318. I have removed all off the egr system and converter, added a msd ignition, 8mm wires, new plugs, cap, rotor and wires. upgraded the air intake system. I have had so such warning light or check engine light illuminate to this point and not only is the engine running better it has more power and better gas milage. I bought my dakota for 500.00 and am very pleased with it so far the only question I have is how far can I advance the ingition timing and get the best performace?
thanks

You can advance it until you ping.
I am sorry and mabye its just me but I don't understand your awnser to my question. If it was ment to be a joke it didn't land atleast with me. My question is without knowing what the stock timing is. I am wondering if anyone out there has advanced there timing a couple of degrees and if they got better throttle responce and better performace? Or is it just a waste of time?
By Ping he means Pinging as in a sound as in predetention.
The timing is non adjustable. The computer will adjust it. The rotor needs to be pointing at the indication mark on #1 cly at Top Dead center.

This is true for our Magnums, not sure if the timing on the LA 318 is also solely computer controlled.
Ya true I forgot its the TBI. I don't know for sure on the Dodge LA TBI but the Chevy TBI you just have to unplug one wire to keep the computer from adjusting so you can set base timing. The LA's may be like that.
