Default Fuel Pump

On our 1992 Dak 5.2, when you turn the key on (in park) you can hear the fuel pump pumping but when the truck is in Neutral and you turn the key on, you cannot hear the fuel pump working? Is this normal?

Just tried it again this morning and now even in park you can't hear the fuel pump pumping right away. After a few trys it did pump and started up.

You didn't state what your real problem is. Is the truck not starting?

Don't concentrate on hearing the pump. Test the fuel pressure. You can have a pump running but not enough pressure/volume to run the engine.

The truck doesn't always want to start in cold weather and runs rough for about the first minute or so when first started up. Will have to get the pressure checked.
