gas pedal , throttle problem or nromal?
Hey guys,
I have a quick question for you.
I have a 4x4 v6 3.9 extended cab Dakota
when driving on the high way at like 110-120 @ 2100 rpm I cant seem to get the sweet spot of the gas pedal where i stay at 120 lol either im not giving enuff and it goes down to liek 100... or it jumps up to 3000 rpm.
Not sure if u know what i mean :P
I like to be crusing at 120 @ the lowest rpm i can which is like 2100-2200
but cant seem to find that spot where it just gives enough gas to stay there.
Like i said it either goes and seems to be able to stay at 100ish or I try and give more and kicks up to 3000 rpm.
In town theres no problem what so ever maintain like 60km/h or anything.
Is this normal since its the v6 and not the v8?
maybe some adjustments need to be made?

at first I thought you were hot roddin', but it occured to me that you are refering to KPH and not MPH, but anyhow, if it feels like it's lugging in overdrive and then it kicks out of O/D and seems to be ok, you might have an overdrive problem internal to the transmission. First thing you should do is check the color & condition of your transmission fluid. If it's burnt and smells burnt, you've got burned up clutch packs and probably are going to need a rebuild. If it's brown, change it anyways and see what happens. I would take it to a transmission shop and let them do pressure tests on the transmission to make sure everything is ok hydraulically.
I'm assuming it's downshifting on you. The TV Throttle Valve cable is adjustable and can move your shifts around a bit.

my OD works great ... button lights up and revs change when i press and depress it. So im not think its that. i will check the cable and maybe even bring to the tranmission shop to see what the guys think. Its free for a test drive.
