Default o/d in & out

well the o/d started working in my 91 dakota le (4x4 318) . the only thing is around 35 mph & 45 - 50 mph the o/d engages but will kick in and out of o/d.
back & forth . i'm starting to figure out how to give the truck gas and let off the gas to keep the o/d engaged, but it doesn't seem to always work .
anyone ever had this problem?

well, i finally got around to checking out these o/d suggestions. tracked down the speed sensor and found the wire next to where the speedometer cable comes into the sensor was disconnected . connected it back, tie wired it for added security, and i've got o/d . thanks for the help . makes this woodpecker feel like a motorhead
