Default A/C / Heat stuck on defrost?

Hello,

My 96 Dakota sport is stuck in defrost mode. None of the buttons are stuck or anything, it's just when I click the button, any button, it still continues blowing out of the defrost holes. Blower and everything else still runs fine, including temperature and everything. Just doesn't switch.

Anybody else have this problem and know what I need to change/fix?

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

-Dan

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Check the small hose that is coming from the firewall.

I agree! I would like to add that defrost is the "default" mode for the HAVAC system. With no vacuum to the system they make it that way so you'll at least have defrost and a clear windshild to see.

Have you done any work reciently that this just started happening after?

Did this just start happening?

This started happening right about when summer hit. And it continues to be stuck on defrost. When I check all the hoses they all look and feel connected and in good condition.

Ya defiantly the call sign. Check all hoses under the hood and under the dash as well.
