96 4x4 problems
hello guys asking the help with my 4wd system my tuck is a 96 reg cab sport v6 auto and im having a problem with the 4wd. ive searched google and found nothing about 96s which led me here first the indicator doesnt work i can feel the transfer case lock in but the front wheels wont spin???? im not sure but i dont think the 96s have vacuum lines for the axles but any ideas comments or help would be appreciated i just dont have the money to let a shop take a look at it right now thanks in advance
How do you know the front wont spin? Are you trying to do a burn out to see which spins? Correct the 96 wont have a CAD Central Axle Disconnect. So everything is solidly connected, unless driveshaft or other parts are missing. Have you look underneath to check?
if it's all there then jack it all up all wheels in the air get under and with it in 4wd (not running) grab the front shaft and see if it spins the wheels or if it's locked the rear kinda get an idea where your loseing your link.
btw +1 on making sure it's all there. people like to take out parts rather than fix them sometimes. 'shakes head'

the only thing i havent done is pop the cover off the front havent jacked all 4 up yet... but when the xcase is locked in 4hi drive shaft is locked prob need to jack this dude up ill get on that here shortly, could the transfer case switch be a prob also thats bout the only thing ive found on googly
after pulling the cover led me to find my spiders are gone well there in the bottom of the diff in shavings so that sucks what year does it interchange with so i can check the bone yards around here dealer cant order them any more the ring and pinon are fine suprisingly
www.ringpinion.com has a list of years and vehicles that has the same axle. You can buy new spiders from there too. Are you sure the ring and pinion is good. One chip and you need to get a new one, since there is a weak spot now.
