Default Canopy Question?

Kay so I have a few questions regarding canopys.

I was talking with my girlfriend recently about ways to do the camping trips we wanted to do but without stuffing my truck full of crap or pulling a trailer. What we came up was essentially packing only essentials and making a plywood bed that sat on the wheel wells in the box for the mattress/storage space under the bed with a canopy covering us. I'm pretty hyped on this idea actually and I've already started Canopy hunting.

Now my first question
I'm pretty sure the goods/bads here will cancel each other out. Since I'm killing the wind resistance the box makes while open. But with the added weight from the canopy I doubt I'll see any change in gas mileage. If anyone knows anything about this I'd appreciate it.

2nd
Will the Canopy of a 2nd generation Dakota fit on my 93?
I'm pretty sure lengthwise the boxes are the same but width I'm not sure about.
Since I found pretty much exactly what I wanted in a canopy for pretty cheap already.

3rd
What are the chances that I can run a Truxedo Lo Pro tonneau cover on the truck while still being able to mount the canopy without having to completely removed the tonneau cover.
Since the cover is what I really want but the canopy would make camping and moving things much easier.
(PS I don't have High hopes for the 3rd one lol)

Thats pretty much it for now I think.
Thanks in advance guys.

Cool! Have fun!

1st the MPG will probably be 1MPG less due to weight.
2nd yes 2nd Gen. will work. It is the same width and length. Except for the Quad cabs they have a very short bed.
3rd No you can not do both and expect to sleep on top. I suggest to section out one side of the bed with a cargo net ect to keep all the stuff on one side. Or use a tent.

Thats not to bad of for MPG
As for the canopy thats great news since this one is a deal I don't think I'm gonna pass up.

And I didn't mean use the tonneau cover while I'm camping. When the canopy would be on I'd have it rolled up. It'd be useless with the canopy on the truck. Sorry if I confused you Crazy
What I want to know is if I had the Truxedo Low pro rolled up. Would I still be able to mount the canopy onto the truck without the Tonneau cover mounts getting in the way.

I never noticed any difference in MPG when using my canopy, in fact one of my best tanks ever (21MPG) was while the canopy was on. You don't really need anything over the wheel wells for 2 people to sleep back there, my buddy and I slept in mine no problem at Yellowstone, we're both scrawny bastards though.

Oh I know we could fit in there without something covering the wells.
But it'll give us a bit more sleeping room and storage space so not everything is left out at night.
