Need assistance with NOx on emissions
the code 32 is the EGR transducer. If that's bad, the entire EGR assembly has to be replaced. The strong smell of fuel means that you're running rich, but that won't cause the EGR not to work unless your have excess backpressure in your exhaust from a partially clogged cat, muffler or collapsed exhaust pipe. If you have a copy of your emission report, that would be interesting to see what your HC, CO, CO2, O2 levels are. By the way, just out of curiousity, what does NY use for emission testing, is it the I/M 240? I know NJ uses a TSI.
Whole EGR system needs replaced? If anything, can't I just replace the modulator that seems to be the culprit since that's a separate piece? The modulator is the part with the lines going to the egr valve and it has a 2 pin electrical plug going to it.
the transducer is not replaced seperately, the entire EGR valve and transducer come in one complete package. It's not that expensive, Napa sells it for around $70 & comes with the gasket. I have the exact same problem on my '95 just haven't gotten around to fixing it plus in FL we don't have mandatory emissions/safety checks.

-edit-
I found it online. NAPA didn't have it around me. Today I passed emissions barely. NOx was 3.9988 and limit was 4.0. I had new spark plugs and wires with less than 20 miles on them, had 50% 87 octane and 50% e85. I'm going to replace that EGR thingy when I get back in a few months.
