Cold "Hard starts" Better Now Since I.....
I was having issues with my 1996 4X4 SLT 3.9 V6 not wanting to start on the first crank in the morning and after sitting all day in the parking lot after work. I read threads that pointed to the fuel pump, Idler Air Controller and some Crank position sensor to name a few and I decided to start at the lowest level and work my way up. Guess what?? I am by no means a genius, just damn lucky in this case. I pulled out the Crankcase Inlet Filter and cleaned it out with carb cleaner and good grief the gunk that came out was unbelievable. After that I lubed it with clean new motor oil and re-installed it back in the valve cover. Next morning I got in and it fired right up and also that day after work. Ever since it has been starting first turn. Again I stress, I GOT LUCKY, this was the cure first part I chose to mess with but it may help someone here cure there starting problem.
