Default 2wd and fitting 30X9.5R15

Hey guys,

New to the board, but not new to dakotas. Had a 94 extra cab sport V8 before.

I just picked up a 92 Reg cab long bed 2wd with the 3.9.

I installed load adjusting shocks by monroe, pretty cool, but they popped the rear up about 2 inches. So, I ordered a set of 2.5" coil spacers on ebay and think that will level out the stance.

My question: Will I be able to clear 30x9.5R15's with no rubbing? If it will still rub, what is the biggest I should go?

Also what gearing should accompany each size. I'm used to Toyotas now and our gearing is different due to lack of power.

Thanks for the help. I'll post pics as this project moves forward.

Welcome to DF. If you haven't already seen our FAQ2 which has TONS of lifting and performance advice I suggest you check it out, just a few posts above this one.

Yes it sounds like you should fit 30's just fine. Keep the width 10.5 or under and you shouldn't have any rubbing issues.

What can I fit on my 2wd?
Stock... 235/75r15
1-2 inches... 30s
2-4 inches... 31s

Wow! I don't know how I missed that. I already read through that a couple days back.

Excellent. Glad to know that I will clear the 30's

There is really quite limited infor for our old daks.

My confusion with the gears is that I'm not sure what tire is supposed to go with which gear set. I understand my truck could have come with 3.21, 3.55 or 3.90's and it could have had 205 or 215 tires. I want my gears low enough to move the tires, but high enough so it doesn't scream on the highway.

Also does anyone have pics of their coil spaced dakota suspension. Curious what you guys do about the upper arm riding the bumpstop. Lower bumps?

As far as ratios you should be just fine with your stock ratio. Double check what it is. You can check out a tire to gear ratio chart to find the best MPG and HP gear that you would like. But being your only going from a stock 28in to 30 you don't need to change the gears.

I was wondering if i could fit 31x10.5x15 on my stock 15x6 rim on my dakota? If not how about 30x9.5x15?
