Default need help

ok i am new here but have come here quite a bit when i had problems with a friends neon. i have an 88 dodge dakota 2wd auto and trying to figure out what kind of tranny i have so i can either get a rebuild kit or possibly swap it. also i have an acceleration problem its all bark with no bite at all. granted it is completely stock bt a buddy has the same truck and motor and he stomps my *** everytime. so any help would be greatly appreciated

The FAQ has it listed.

1988-1991 42RH (A-500) Four speed V6 only

1992-1995 had the following two:
42RH Four speed "V6 only" (1st 2.74, 2nd 1.54, 3rd 1.0, 4th 0.69, Rev. 2.21)

Are you sure it is a 3 speed, maybe OD never worked.

The only info I can find on a 3 speed is "A-998 Three speed V6 only" but it doesn't say what year. But I bet it is what you would have.

Also you can go down to a transmission shop and ask them, they have special lists.

it just says 1 2 D i have no overdrive button this is the number on teh side of my tranny though PK412001 9099 3441 if it helps any

could it be an A904 or A998/999 torqueflite 3 speed?

ok i feel dumb now cause you even posted the A998 up top :/ but my guess is that is it. any suggestions on a better swap?
