Default Help!

I jsut bought a 96 dodge dakota v6. i was told it had a blown head gasket but after cleaning it up and runing it for a bit i found no signs of a leak internal or external. I took it on a test drive and 3/4 the way throught it stated to squeal loudly and i herd knocking. Oil pressure dropped, water temp was rising quick. I assumed the the oil pump was shoot due to the knocking and squealing. when i got it home i checked the oil and it was at least 2 quarts past full and smelt like gas.

My first thoughts would be a leaking fuel injector. i turned it over after letting it sit a day or two and there was still knock. Is it leaking injectors or internal damage or both? any help is appreciated.

I forgot to mention that when i first got the truck the fuel pump was dead. i waent to a junkyard and pulled a fuel pump off a newer dodge. Could it be that the pump has to much fuel pressure and caused all this?

Lots of possibilities. Yes it could be leaking fuel injectors and too high of a fuel pressure regulator since it is in the fuel sending unit. Bad water pump for the sequel and overheating.

Hmm since you mention the water pump i do know that the truck was siting for 3-4 years. The seller said that he poured quick seal in the coolant to stop a leak and it could have plugged the jackets and stopped coolant flow. Im pretty sure a different fuel pump is needed. My main worry is that the engine is junk from the injectors leaking and thinning the oil. I removed the valve covers today and it was dry not even oil on the lifters. So im hoping for best but planing for the worst.
