Default front brake help

ok..i need some help diagnosing a problem..i realize this is hard to do sometimes with out seeing/feeling the truck, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction...when applying the brakes, at very slow speeds, 5 or so mph or lower it seems, my front brakes seem to lock up..it doesnt happen at all when up to speed..only when pulling out of my driveway or creaping up to a stop in a parking lot..i know my rotors are shot and i plan to change them soon, but i think i may have a caliper piston sticking or something..like i said, i will just barely apply the brakes and from time to time, they lock up like i just slammed my foot down on them...bad caliper piston??

I had an OT vehicle that did that a few years back, it turned out that my rotor and pad on one side was worn to the point that the piston was overextended.
Proof came one day when I stepped on the brake and blew a crapload of brake fluid all over my apt. house parking lot
It could have been a serious pucker-factor moment in traffic, vowed never to push my luck like that again...
Better safe than sorry, better give everything a close inspection ASAP.

I had lots of fun with my front brakes. Once you have checked the major stuff, pads, calipers and so forth, if the problem is still persisting, I would check the actual brake lines that go to the caliper. For some reason, these will cause a sticking. Also, be careful when and if you remove the line, dont screw up your metal lines, those are a pain to replace.
good luck

i think the lines could be my problem...i noticed the right side metal line had a bad spot in a bend, looked like it was ready to fall apart at any time.. i'll need to go ahead a replace those line when i replace my rotors...are those lines sold specific or do i just get a length of metal brake line a bend to fit??

Yes, there is some bendable tubing, make sure to get the stuff that you can bend by hand. Dont get too long of a piece since the ends are already finished and you dont want to route a bunch of excess tube.
I would change the flex brake lines while you are it. You will have to bleed the system anyway. Also be sure to watch out for chaffing, where a piece of line may sit there and rub against metal causing a hole.
g luck
