Default Brake job

I just did a brake job on the rear of my 89 2wd i replaced everything in the drums except the bar i just want to know if i need to get the drums turned or not are the shoes supposed to minor rub the drums and do i have to adjust the brakes at all or will the self adjuster do all the work

if the drums did not have gouge lines and looked and felt smothe should be ok. if the drum went on easy and you did not have to muscle it over the shoes a little rub is ok. did you do the job one wheel at a time? if you took both off and mixed up the self adjuster (start wheel) that could be an issue. they are side specific and are marked on the inside end of the threaded shaft L R.

no i did 1 at a time the left side is good now but the right side you have to push the front pad in to get it on its like the front pad wants to expand and doesn't spring back

back off the adjuster a couple of turns and make sure the shoe is not catching on anything...

the adjuster is totally backed off

the flat metal piece that goes between the shoes is a pain. make sure it is in the right position and the notches seated in the shoes.
