Front end
Hey guys, so my 92 Dakota basically needs to have the front-end redone. The CV joint is on it's way out, the upper and lower ball joints, tie rods, etc. I was wondering what I would expect to pay at a mechanic's shop to have it done.
This is a new truck and still needs to to have the fuel lines replaced among a couple other repairs, and I was also [reluctantly] thinking about selling it if it's too much money to fix...

If your planning on having a shop replace it all you will be looking at a high bill. If you do it your self it won't be bad at all. If I would have to ball park all that you listed $600-UP for a shop to do it. The expensive part is the labor $90-100 per hour.
If you do it all together in parts $200 and your labor free. Heck if you have a buddy that will help just buy a pizza and beer and get it done.

Haha yeah I normally do have a friend help me with most of my repairs, however this seems out of my league. I've never dealt with the front-end before so I'm stuck going to the shop.
But thanks for the rough estimate which I might be looking at. It's a local mechanic so maybe I can get it done a little bit cheaper if I offer to pay cash. I guess I'll find out soon enough

CV shaft is easy, IIRC 6 bolts to the inner side and the axle nut, wiggle the inside clear and smack the outer with soft face hammer.
Tie rods usually aren't too bad, ball joints can be a pain depending on rust issues either way soak everything down with penetrating oil daily over a week or so period to make it easier.
