Question whole truck violently shaking

Hello all.My dad recently purchased a 92 Dakota 6cyl auto.Very nice BUT the whole truck shakes like mad after shifting into second gear.Sadly he just got this yesterday and never happened trying it out or on the way home.Any ideas and problems to look at will be appreciated..Ty

sounds like what happened to me does it shake when sitting still if not then check your universal joints on your driveshaft. thats what ended up being my problem one night

I agree with U joints. I had a 6cyl dak before my current 8 and I knew they were going bad, but I let them go and they got worse and worse until I could not take the shaking.

Lazy, I know. Bearings inside the joints were ground to powder by the time I got them replaced. haha

While you have the drive shaft out, look to see if there is a clean spot or an appearance of a tack weld on the driveshaft. There should be weights on it from being balanced. They dont come off often, but could get knocked off if you bottomed out or something... Start with the u joints.
