Default Cooling

I've seen rad fan swap topics and how to's come by, but I'm not ready for a job of that magnitude yet. Has something to to with limited resources too. I'm gonna try something else first: I just got a motorcycle rad fan which should fit nicely in front of the rad. If it works only a little I'm gonna keep at it, maybe fit another one even, to make the job easier.

In the trial period I'll just operate them on a switch, but eventually I'd like to get them to switch on and off automatically as the temerature goes up or down. So now the question is: does the truck have a thermoswitch hidden somehwere or do I need to get creative? I'm just looking for options at the moment, but I do want to get it right eventually, and am a sucker for neat ideas. Maybe use the rad cap or sticking a switch to the exterior or something. I can't weld, zo modding the rad is not something I'll be doing anytime soon.

Couldn't find any info on aftermarket switches yet, so I thought I'd ask.

There are tons of aftermarket switches out there. www.summitracing.com
It all depends on how you want to go about it. Some are adjustable some are not. Here are the few I know about.

There are the kind where it is just a prob that you stick in the radiator fins and that gets its temp.

There are the kind that are small screw in types of sensors like our factory sensors. I can't remember what truck/engine you got but on the Magnum motors there is a passage of coolant in front of the intake manifold where the 2 sensors and thermostat housing is. It is very easy to drill and tap for the new sensor to screw in. Drill and tap kits are cheep.

Some people do tap into the radiator and weld in a bong or just a nut on the other side. Most radiator shops can do it for you cheep.

That's great, thanks! I'll look into that for sure.
