1995 Dodge Dakota fuel pump

Default 1995 Dodge Dakota fuel pump

hello all i just have a quick question ok i replace the fuel pump in my GF 1995 Dodge dakota v6 2w it has a 15 gallon tank i put a brand new fuel pump in i paid 170.00 for it at autozone now her gas Gage was working just fine before her pump went out i put the new pump in it has a full tank of gas and its says her tank is empty do any of u know why my dad said it could be from a bad ground wire and i know it cant be bc it worked before i change it every thing is hooked up right and the truck runs grate just the gas tank reads E i need help plz

Most likely it was not adjusted correctly now the float is stuck, it needs to be shifted where the float can move freely without binding.

I will move this to the 1st Generation Dakota Sub-Forum.

i dont know about that the pump is in the same place the old one was bc all the lines and wires line up and the pump sits just the old one does so i dont think its the pump

I just recently replaced the Fuel Pump in my 95, and probably got the same as you did, an Airtex part.

And when I put mine in, I had the "slightly" rotate the fuel outlet the evap piece, and maybe the electrical part, I can't remember.

I spun them right in there "bushings" so the float would point straight ahead, otherwise, the float would have been pointing right at the side of the tank and never would have worked.

ok she has tomarrow off from work so i can look at it then so the float should be faceing witch way

i am dumb lol i moved the pump bc the float was pinch lol and it wzas still on e so i took it back out and looked to see it the float was free and it was and then i seen that the tank was on e lol so thats why it was on e lol and before when it was pinched the line was past e and the gas light would come right one after i unpiched it the line was on e and it took a min for the gas light to come on lol tank was enpty lol thank u all here who help me thank u so much thank u
