The recommended fluid is Dexron II or ATF+. (The ATF+ being "ATF-Plus" not just any old ATF. It's a Chrysler spec)
With that being said, you probably won't find Dexron II or plain ATF+ anywhere. Dexron-VI and ATF+4 are the current versions of the fluid, and either can be used in the transfer case.
I know that ATF+4 is, by nature, synthetic, so don't be "wooed" by a bottle that says "synthetic" over one that omits it. Use of the ATF+4 name alone requires licensing and product validation by Chrysler, so, all fluids should, in theory, be "at least" as good as the factory stuff.
Most WalMarts carry quarts of the Mopar-brand ATF+4. Valvoline also makes it.
It is worth noting that currently no product Mobil makes is approved as, or recommended for, Chrysler specs. Meaning, ATF-Plus, ATF+3, ATF+4. (Which means keep it away from the transmissions)
