Default Engine Swap 5.2 LA to 5.9 Magnum?

Good evening everyone I am looking for anyone who can help me with a project i would like to pursue I own a 1991 dodge dakota with a 5.2L TBFI LA premag under the hood I have been lately been looking for more power and started doing some homework and see what I could pack in to this thing I turned up a few things but the idea of dropping in a 5.9L MPFI magnum grabbed my attention an my need for speed the most now I understand that you can pretty much drop a 5.9 magnum under the hood of a 5.2 magnum with just about no modifications or new parts at all but I want to drop a 5.9 MPFI mag under the hood of a 5.2 TBFI LA premag am I’m just thinking of everything I’m going to have to possibly swap in with the 5.9 if this is even possible I’m thinking the fuel pump, computer, wire harness mounts? I’m not sure anything with the motor mounts if there needs to be any frame modifications that’s fine I have my trusty miller to get things heated up but everything else I don’t know what I will need to make this thing come alive and the other reason I was interested in doing this was because a buddy of mine was going to give me a 5.9 out of his ram that he scraped so if anyone on here can give me any help or lead me in the right direction it will be greatly appreciated

The Magnums have the same mounting holes the LA's have. So mounting it will be fine. If you get the engine complete from fuel injectors to all according to flywheel. Then it won't be so bad. Wiring is going to be the biggest hurtle, try getting a 92-95 V8 wiring even 5.2 will work. That will be the simplest to setup. 96-up will involve a lot more work. Yes fuel pump, maybe your transmission will work. I believe your 5.2 came with the 46rh which is the same as the 5.9 Magnum. Get a 5.9 PCM, Mopar Performance PCM would be best. If you get everything before the swap, it shouldn't take to long.

What year is your friends Ram? And 2wd or 4wd? What is wrong with it? If it is the early years grab it all if in good condition.

Yes the A518 will fit. a 46rh 92-95 is the same as the A518 but the 46rh has electronic OD and TCC. Which if you get the OBD1 pcm 93-95 then it will control it.

The best parts of the magnum engine is the new heads and exhaust system, that is the majority of the power gain, and you could probably stick with throttle body fuel injection and get the most bang for your buck. You would need an aftermarket carb type intake manifold and an adapter plate to mount the throttle body unit to....you might have to change to larger injectors, might not....
