Default New fuel pump but still no gas gauge

so I replaced the whole fuel pump unit in my 22 gal tank (rwd) and my gas gage still doesn't work and now also my low fuel level warning light is always on now instead of working like before so now I'm backwards...

any ideas on what it could be? the wire harness looked ok and the was an extra wire but that's probably for another model.

thanks in advance!

Did you insert the new fuel pump assembly so that the Fuel inlet is positioned straight out to the side to plug into the hose (as would seem perfectly sensible)? I did that without looking to see if the float was facing right.

Turns out the fuel inlet, outlet, and overflow are on push-through rubber grommets and can be swiveled. In my case, they were not facing correctly, so the float hit the side of the tank, even though it looked perfect from the outside. Thought I'd mention this as everyone just says "turn the pump" or "make sure the float doesn't bind" without telling you why this could even happen.

Just some how the float is stuck, the sending unit needs to be repositioned. Just turn it a little each way until you can make it unstuck.

Any possibility that there could be a wire issue or electrical?

So I took a look at the fuel pump and I had a shop do this because I didn't feel like doing it. The Inlet and outlet hoses are facing the outside towards the gas cap but slightly on an angle. I was tapping the gas tank and didn't really feel the float on the other side. So I'm still not sure if it's stuck
