Default replacing the fuel pump

i have read that you can either drop the tank or raise the bed and use a jack to hold up the bed to get to the pump. I dont have access to a lift so droppin the tank seems like it would be hard to do. Removing the bed seems to be more practical for me. my real question is when i get to the tank how do you get the pump out of the tank? is there bands, screws or anything like that i have to worry about?

you dont need a jack to move the bed. you dont even have to remove the bed, just move it back about 2 feet or so. you can do it by yourself if your careful, but a buddy or neighbor makes it easier. i dont quite remember if the pump is held on a by a big hose clamp thingy or not but it just requires basic hand tools..............nothing complicated. just make sure the pump and filter are pointing the right way when you install it or the gauge wont work. look at how the old one comes out.

Just a big plastic ring that holds the pump in, use a block of 2x4 and a hammer to break it loose.

take note of the exact the position it is in, maybe make a mark at 12 o'clock on the tank and top of the pump that's in there now. then position the new one the same. Tap gently on the plastic ring or use a strap wrench.

And seeing you have all the bolts out of the bed, maybe now would be a good time for a 2" lift. lol
