I just picked up a 96 SLT 4x4 with sloppy steering and the guy at the shop says it needs a intermediate steering shaft. He contacted the dodge dealer and said that he was told the part is discontinued. I was able to locate one of the last two in the dealer network parts system. Are parts really becoming that hard to come by for these trucks? What sources are out there for replacement parts outside of salvage yards?

Yes universal or used parts are you best bet. Try your local junkyard or www.craigslist.org or www.ebay.com
