Default tranny problems!

i have a 1991 dakota 4x4 auto tranny that ive been having problems with. I was driving down the street and i went to take off from a stop light and it would barely go, the truck would go only if i barely pressed the gas. it felt like pressing in the clutch on a standard while trying to take off. so i pulled over and i noticed a sort of knockin noise from the tranny, kinda like somthing was hitting the inspection plate and there was tranny fluid pouring out from the inspection plate. i just pulled the tranny out yester day and now i have no idea how to test the seals or torque converter or anything. i need advice on what to look for. thanks ahead of time
oh, also two of the four torque converter bolts were only finger tight when i took them off.

There is no simple way to test if it is bad. You will need to replace it anyways since it was chewing up the shaft like that. You may even need to replace that shaft (if it is replaceable).
