Default skipping at high rpm?

Hey there everyone, I have a 87 Dakota, 6 cyl, automatic, 2wd. When Im driving along, usually around 2,500 to 3,000 rpms the engine decides to skip and stutter and I have to feather the gas to keep her running or she'll stall. I've tried new plugs, sea foam cleaner, isopropyl fuel dryer and lots of carb cleaner. any one have any ideas as to how to fix this, or what is wrong?

On mine there is a sensor of some sort, I think it's an Idle Air Control Sensor mounted to the backside of the carb. A Torx head is what you need to remove the 2 bolts, unclip the clip and remove. Spray carb cleaner all over it and clean it off with a rag, getting as much debris off as possible, make it look new. Put the sensor back on, fire it up and go for a ride. See if the problem persists. It's a 50 dollar part like most sensors at auto part stores so this might save you some cash.
