What are some good V6 Dakota transmission swaps that will take place of this overdrive automatic transmission that I have. Second or third transmission and they have all been junk. I think right now it has an A518. But never quite been sure what transmission I have. And how many people out there have attempted the manual swap.

The A518/46rh came behind V8's. V6's came with the A500/42rh. Possible that the one you have now is the 46rh. What are you doing that is killing transmissions on a V6?

There is a good write up on a manual swap in the FAQ2. The NV3500 came behind the V8's on Dakotas that will be a nice and strong transmission for your V6.

Thanks. I don't kill transmissions, Transmissions kill me lol. I don't drive like an idiot or do burnouts, must be my luck. Might be this Lucas Oil transmission stop slip that is killing them. The slippage isn't that bad until I pour the Lucas in then it seems to get worse. Last time I'm using that product.

How can I tell the difference between transmissions? And that V8 transmission will just bolt right up, since the V6 and V8 engines are pretty much the same?
