It would look better with some type of bumper behind it. Preferably the stock one.

I was thinking that, but I'm trying to keep the weight down. This is a pretty serious bumper and the weight is definitely a factor.

I added some protected 1/8" thick mesh and a skid plate today. Took another 5ish hours. Freakin' mesh wanted to melt instead of weld, even on the lowest setting. I got r dun though and it's looking a lot better.

4 doors are nice, especially for trucks, my dad has a 4 door 02 dakota and it makes a good family car/hauler. I'd tinkered with the idea of a 4 door first gen, but I don't need MORE projects.

Down the road when the wife and I have kids, I plan on hacking out the rear of the cab and fabbing up a cap and seats to make a little suv/convertible truck with extra seating.

I have the opposite view... Construction crews state highway departments etc can have their crew cabs otherwise they are not "that" needed....
I am so sick n tired of everything these days being 4-door-ized.... yuck and then they call them "sport" models; 4 doors are the farthest thing form sporty that could be made.
I do have a 97 XJ Cherokee that has (gulp) 4 doors the back is made for kids younger than 12 I couldnt get back there if I had to. My wife likes it though we have very little need for the 3rd and 4th door she wants a lift and bigger tires I saty not til she lets me sell it and find a 2 door version.

like how Dodge totally ruined the charger...I have had a Charger before as have each of my brothers (a 68 a 74 and a 76) and the extra doors will guarantee I wont buy a new version
I wish they had built a Ramcharger version of the Durango on the 96 or older chassis.

seems like a glut of 93s on the forums lately... the next Dak I get will hopefully be a <96 but 4WD.

I have had 1 of each now in 2WD short bed long bed and now club cab.

Thanks man, I thoroughly enjoyed the process and DF was key in giving me the ideas and knowledge to follow through. Study up on that FAQ2, it got it all.

92-93 Daks are the best thing going without custom headers. I wouldn't trade either of my 92's for anything. My 2wd has 110k more miles than my 4wd, but the engine bay is crystal clean, burns no oil and is an absolute donkey (I beat the **** out of that horse).

I've got two longbeds. Gotta be longbed or it's a car. No cargo room, it's a Jeep thing. Took me forever to find my required 92-93/longbed/manual combo, but it's all mine now!

I was thinking about making a 2wd racetruck, but my 2wd dak is an absolute tank and I'm not messing with that motor until it blows its load. I love my Buicks too, so I think my next project is going to be a '70 Skylark/GS/GSX 455 drag car. Perfect compliment to my granddaddy boat Buicks.
