The best way is to remove the front axle and brackets, then IIRC you should have enough clearance to remove it. The service manual describes the R&R in details with pics, it is downloadable from the FAQ just a few posts above this one.
I couldnt find the manual for the 89 in the FAQ, and as far as I know the drive-train is quite different from that of a ~1992, or would that process be the same on the 89?
Thanks! now I just need to find out the best way to drop that axle! (with my limitation of tools.) I got a clutch kit/rebuilt starter that i need to install too, so hopefully i can afford a little cosmetic improvement soon!
i have another question! does any of the suspension from a 92 v6 2x4 fit my (89 v6 4x4) truck? i am having a bit of a sagging issue with the front driver side, what would that likely be? and would that part fit on both years?
