Default Junkyard Compatibility

i was wondering if anyone knew what other chrysler cars and trucks would have an 8.25 27 spline rear end.

i was in the junkyard today looking for a limited slip and none of the dakotas had it. But i know some cherokees had 8.25, 27 spline rear ends, i just didnt know which ones

If anyone knew what other vehicles are compatible with our dakotas for other parts that would be great too! I mean stuff like using the rims off of a 2nd gen. or the seats out of a 2nd gen, etc.

Chrysler 8.25 - 27 spline, 1.17" diameter shafts, 8.25" ring gear, 3" axle tube - 91-96

Chrysler 8.25 - 29 spline, 1.21" diameter shafts, 8.25" ring gear, 3" axle tube - used 97-01

That's for Cherokees. The Wrangler (YJ 91-96) may have used it as well.

The 8.25 on the Cherokees won't have ABS however, only the Dana 35 Cherokees had it. The 8.25 is c-clip as well. Gears will be 3.07 off a manual, 3.55 off an auto.

Cherokee front seats are almost a direct bolt in for the bench seat too. I've got some pics in my build thread of the ones I swapped in.

I know the main leaf off the Dakota will lift the rear about 3 inches on the Cherokees if you add it in after cutting off the eyes. I'd imagine the reverse would lower the Dakota some if you replaced the main spring.

That's all I can think of offhand. I've owned a number of Cherokees.

Oh and most truck wheels from the 1st gen dakota years will fit as well. 15x7 with 5x4.5 was really popular back then. Jeep, Ford, and Chevy used it and I think Toyota did as well on some of their trucks.

I've got Jeep 5 spokes on mine, love em compared to the horrible stock wheels I had.
