if my old ac r12 has ran out, can i just pull everything out except the pump itself? just so its out the way

Why not fix it? Or better yet, leave it rather than hack it out? It isn't hurting anything, and aside from the compressor which you were going to leave, how much workable room will it really clear up? Some day you may want to fix it, or sell it, and having everything there and complete would be a much better starting point.

Just refill it. You can buy artificial r12 (freeze 12) for about $10 to refill it or you can convert to 134 for about $100. It's cheap either way to have a/c again and much easier than removing everything.

The retro fit kits to do it your self are like $30 or so. If you did decide to rip it all off then use an A/C pulley delete kit. Autozone sells them, link in the FAQ2.
