Default EGR Valve

My truck has the 5.2 with the egr valve. If i bought another intake (stock or aftermarket) without the egr port can i just plug off the port on the exhaust manifold and be done with it and do away with the egr valve altogether? I have the mp pcm and i know that when you order a new one it is not specified with egr or no egr. And some years didnt have them either so not 100% sure but dont see why the check engine light would come on.

96-up doesn't have EGR, 97-up intakes don't have the EGR port.

If it is running correctly the EGR system is to help with MPG, by using the unburned gas that passes through the exhaust.

If you have no choice it can run without it, it is illegal to do so and every now and then you will get a Check Engine Light for no EGR.

I don't have mine do to the 5.9 swap from a 2001 Dakota which didn't have the EGR. I could of used my intake but I went with the 5.9 since I had it already on the engine. I do wish I had the EGR and all the other emission stuff back on to get the best MPG possible.

Thanks crazy. Do you know if it will hurt the performance in anyway?

Removing it doesn't help or hurt HP/TQ. Removing it just hurts MPG and increases your pollution output.
