Dual battery setup with pics!
As some of you may know I have dual batteries already both Yellow top Optima batteries. The 2nd battery I had installed behind the rear passenger side fender under the bed, it was always a hassle to remove and install.
I had a 2nd battery tray thanks to the 4wd years ago. I decided to weld it up into the passenger front inner fender well, recessed it in. I welded it all 3 sides around and it has the swing support to the frame. I should of taken pictures of the mount before the battery but oh well.
I used tow 0 gauge cables connecting the batteries positives together and to the alternator. Two more 0 gauge cables one to the frame and one to the body. The main battery has two more 0 gauge grounds, one to the frame and one to the body, plus the stock 2g? engine ground. Also the two 0 gauge cables to the rear for mounting the winch on the rear hitch if needed, as well as other rear power needs.
Before: 2nd battery located under the bed.

After: Passenger fender well.

Very little is visible from the side view.

Thanks. From factory my alternator is 120amps with the towing package, highest amp available. With both batteries the amp draw needed from the alternator is minimal unless you drained both batteries. When using the winch the 2 batteries and 120 amp is more than enough power for the 12,000lb winch lights and more.
