Default Straight Pipe

I decided to chop the muffler off last night. i used the pipe that goes after the muffler and cut the 90 degree bend off at the end and used that after the cat. So now i have a straight pipe that comes out the side before the tire. the 2 pipes where 2.5" so i cut the one pipe lengthwise the about an inch and a half and spread it and then clamped it on to the exhaust pipe. it sounds decent and when the welding is done on the little holes from where the 2 pipes didnt line up exactly and then it will sound better.

What are your guys thoughts on straight pipes and what are the pros and cons.

Here is a pic:

Im not a expert on exhaust but from what ive read and what ive heard straight pipe can actually cause a loss in power because there is no back pressure and it also wont scavenge as well wich helps pull the exhaust out of the pipe.

I used to think the same thing that there was a happy medium of letting the engine breathe while having enough back pressure. But I've heard that a breathing engine is a happy engine too.

Still, looks cool. It'll be a lot louder. IF you mudd I would position the exhaust up over the frame though

i was gonna put it up over the frame, but it is just a around town truck and only travel over a couple towns so there arent too many bumps that'll cause me to hit, but i dont have the pipe to go out the back like i would like to but i will eventually and i wanna put a glass pack on it too. but for now it works good and sounds better it is all welded together. its my first truck, not my first vehicle though, so I'll own it for quite a while and it is a V6. if it wasnt so expensive i would throw in a 318 or even a 360.

And i think that i get more power since now i can stomp on the gas and it'll burn out and leave marks on the road, before i could squeel a bit but couldnt leave no marks and it wouldnt go. IDK im just stating what i have noticed
