Default What transmission do I have?

it's a 1988 dodge dakota, 3.9l v6, 2wd, long bed, single cab. soon to be SAS.

From my understanding it should have an a-500 transmission, but A-904 is cast into the bottom of the bell housing. and if it is an a-904, will a np242 transfer case bolt to it? With the exception of a different tail shaft of course.

and if it will, will it hold up to 33's with 4.10 gears?

I honestly have no idea. I've never counted how many times it shifts, and I don't have a tach. what mph should it kick in at?

Do you see a button on the left hand side of the dash that has OD marked on it?

I just measured it and it's 31". so according to this http://www.carcraft.com/newlook/crc_.../photo_02.html that makes it a 904.

so my question now is, will a 242 transfer case out of a jeep bolt up to it? with the exception of changing the tail housing and output shaft.

Bolt pattern will be the same. But the input shaft spline count on the transfer cases may be different. Best way to find out is to physically check both.
